About this course

In order to gather all of the metrics necessary to monitor an IT infrastructure, LogicMonitor developed an application called the Collector. The Collector is designed to run in the infrastructure to be monitored, gather metrics, and securely communicate results to the LogicMonitor platform for processing. Collectors are an essential component of LogicMonitor's monitoring solution—they are the link between LogicMonitor and the monitored infrastructure. As an administrator, planning the installation of Collectors, configuring failover, and monitoring Collector capacity are critical tasks to ensure uninterrupted insight into the performance of your infrastructure

Course Level

Intermediate

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of observability and monitoring principles and appropriate user rights in LM Envision

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the security and protocols that the LM Collector uses to communicate
  • Understand the importance of configuring a collector with a failover collector or an Auto-Balanced collector group
  • Define a down collector
  • Understand collector sizes and versions
